How Long is Each Session?

Each session is approximately 90 minutes long. You might allow 1.5-2 hours in your schedule so that your coach can discuss the industry best practices as well as what that looks like specifically for you.

What can I expect from each meeting?

CLASS #1 | Kickoff:

  • You will be introduced to our proprietary CareerPortal.
  • This site features complete access to online consulting, live and recorded webinars, contact management tools, targeted market and job search links and career assessments. 
  • The PowerSeries includes step by step modules and templates that will help you build a dynamic resume, launch your focussed job search and prepare for interviews with confidence and poise.

CLASS #2 | Assessments:

  • In this class, you will take a personal inventory of your specific work style, ideal work environment and strengths to determine your career objective.
  • We will examine your assessment results and how your interests and behaviors impact your work environments.
  • The work you do in this class will be referenced in every subsequent class and will be integral to building your resume and preparing to interview

CLASS #3 | Resumes:

  • The Resume class is designed to develop a more polished and powerful first impression on paper. 
  • You will learn to translate your resume into a digital attachment for the Internet and ensure parsing accuracy and ATS readability. 
  • Most importantly, this class develops a strong marketing piece and builds an individual’s confidence in preparing a more effective verbal presentation.

CLASS #4 | Job Search Strategies:

  • We will use this class to examine a structured approach on how to take your resume to a changing job market. 
  • This session teaches time management techniques, effective research tools, contact development and more traditional methods of self-marketing.

CLASS #5 | Technology Class:

  • This class will be individualized to it’s participants and explore the nuances of an effective LinkedIn profile and how to leverage connections into job prospects.
  • A successful modern job search is concentrated on several fronts and leveraging online tools and social networking sites is critical in today’s environment.

CLASS #6 | Interviewing and Negotiation Strategies:

  • Our final class is a highly interactive session where we will review current interview formats and questions which prevail in today’s employment marketplace. 
  • We will discuss how to answer salary questions as well as effective negotiating strategies and techniques to achieve a mutually beneficial package with a potential employer.

I have already been contacted by several recruiters, do I need outplacement?

At Career Development Partners we believe you need a trusted advisor to help you during this important transition. There is a place for recruiters in your job search, but honestly they work for the company. You need someone on your side to give you candid feedback on your search progress.

I have already created my resume, what more can you do for me?

Outplacement is more than a resume service. Of course, we will help you develop the resume you need for an effective job search. In addition, we will assist you in defining your most marketable skills, identifying career direction, understanding the job market and how best to approach employers, close on the position by effectively interviewing and negotiation tactics. Forward your resume to us and we will give you free resume critique.

Should I change my career goals or look for a different line of work?

Most people in the career change period seek and find similar types of jobs – about 85%, actually. Changing career direction depends on the transferability of your skills, abilities and interests.

I am old enough to retire, why should I use outplacement?

None of us can predict the future. What happens in the future if you find that you want, or need, to return to work, will you be prepared? Career  Development Partners also has a very robust preretirement program that can ensure that you are truly ready.

Is my compensation too high for the marketplace?
