Continued Education and Certification

Continued Education and Certification

Today we are climbing up the 5th rung of our ladder: 10 Steps Up The C-Suite Ladder to Effectively Smash Open the Doors, by discussing the importance of Continued Education and Certification.

SHRM-SCP, SPHR are designations that denote that you are an expert in your field and a valuable asset to the team keeping you and your organization more competitive in today’s economy.  These are outward signs that you are the expert in the field and will stand side-by-side with the C-Suite team.

We know that those that carry the designations of CPA, PE, CFP, PMP, CSP, etc. have been recognized by an independent professional certifying organization as having an enhanced level of skill and expertise as well as involvement in an established profession.  The same is true for the HR certifications.  Certifications usually require a certain amount of continuing education to maintain the certification, make this training meaningful, not a just a once a month meeting to get it out of the way.

Help your team that supports your role as a person with a seat at the table to continue their education as well. Surround yourself with people that want to grow and learn and contribute to themselves and the company that writes them a check each payday.

When you stop learning you start declining.  Add something new to your resume on a regular basis.  It keeps you sharp when the grey matter is stirred on a consistent basis.  Your conversation and your thinking become more interesting and engaging when you are learning something new.  The C-suite knows and hears about those that contribute.  You are one of those if you have a seat at the table with this elite group of professionals.

Talk to me about how you can become a contributor and not just a consumer.
