Goal for 2019 and for the rest of my life – learning a better way!
by Travis Jones, CEO and President at Career Development Partners
I love this quote by author Maya Angelou, “Do the best you can until you know better. Then when you know better, do better”.
I consider myself a fairly simple kid from a small town in Kansas. My father taught me as a young man that if I wanted to get ahead in the world, what I needed was an unfailing commitment to a self-directed education. Dad encouraged me to read Dale Carnegie’s book “
How to Win Friends and Influence People” as a junior high student. Over the years I have gained a love of reading and listening to books on leadership, family, faith and business. I enjoy seminars, podcasts, great articles and programs that enhance learning.
This perspective of self-directed learning gives me positive energy and a positive outlook on life. I often tell people I have an honorary PhD in Cassette tapes (I know some of you don’t even know what cassettes are, but your grandparents will tell you if you ask) and I’m working on a second PhD in CD’s. I am eager to learn new approaches to doing things and stimulating my mind.
I would love to hear from you what you are reading and how it gives you positive energy.
Sincerely,
Travis Jones
